Ingredients

For the Sushi Rice

  • 400 g sushi rice
  • 6 cups water
  • 1 cup rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp sugar

  • ½ cucumber, cut into sticks
  • 2 avocados, sliced
  • 150 g smoked salmon or sashimi
  • 150 g tuna sashimi (optional)
  • 50 g Philadelphia cream cheese (optional)
  • Toasted sesame seeds, for garnish
  • Pickled ginger, for serving
  • Wasabi, for serving
  • Soy sauce, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preparing the Rice:
  1. Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. In a pot, add the rice and water. Bring to a boil, then cover and reduce heat. Simmer for about 20 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat and let stand, covered, for 10 more minutes.
  4. In a bowl, mix the rice vinegar, sugar, and salt until dissolved. Incorporate this mixture into the cooked rice and let cool.
