Sopapilla Cheesecake Bars Recipe

Sopapilla Cheesecake Bars are a delightful dessert that combines the creamy texture of cheesecake with the flaky goodness of sopapillas. This recipe is simple and perfect for gatherings or as a sweet treat at home.

Ingredients

  • 2 (8 oz) packages of cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar, divided
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 (8 oz) cans of crescent roll dough
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Optional: Honey for drizzling

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Prepare the Cream Cheese Mixture: In a medium bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese, ¾ cup of granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and well combined.
  3. Assemble the Crescent Rolls:
  • Unroll one can of crescent roll dough and lay it flat in the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Press the seams together to form a solid layer.
  • Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the crescent roll layer.
  1. Add the Second Layer: Unroll the second can of crescent roll dough and place it over the cream cheese layer, again pressing the seams together.
  2. Prepare for Baking: In a small bowl, mix together the melted butter, remaining ¼ cup of sugar, and ground cinnamon. Drizzle this mixture over the top layer of dough.
  3. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown.
  4. Cool and Serve: Allow to cool for at least 15 minutes before slicing into bars. Optionally, drizzle with honey before serving for added sweetness.

Tips

  • For added flavor, you can mix in some lemon zest or almond extract into the cream cheese mixture.
  • These bars can be served warm or chilled, depending on your preference.
